MUNICIPAL HOUSING
DUNEDIN COUNCIL’S PLANS LIMITATION OF SPENDING The finance committee of the Dunedin City Council reports that the whole question of the continuance of the council’s housing scheme has been reviewed, and the committee recommends that the scheme be carried on to the extent of loan authorisations already secured. That is tantamount to the limitation of further expenditure to the amount of the third loan Of £IOO,OOO. The committee recommends that the scheme be revised in the following directions. Minimum deposit by any borrower to be not less than 7J- per cent. Limit of advance in any” case to be £1250. Maximum salary of applicant and his wife not to exceed £7 per week. Any cost over and above £1250 is to be provided by the borrower by way of an extra deposit, or otherwise found by the borrower outside of the council’s advance.
