INCREASED CALLS

As a means of social and business inter-communication between residents of different towns, the telephone toll service of the Dominion takes second place only to mails. “Fo>* the year ended .March 31 last," states the Postmaster-General, the Hem F. Jones, "the number of toll calls handled exceeded 14,480,200 a monthly average of nearly 1,207,000. This average has been easily exceeded by the figures for April and May of the current year, calls for April numbering 1,277.800 and for May 1,231,960. representing increases of 8 and 10 percent respectively over the corresponding months of 1937."
