REFUSAL TO RETIRE GOVERNOR OF ALBERTA STOPPAGE OF SALARY SEVERANCE OF SERVICES (Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Rec. May 4, 2.50 p.m.i EDMONDTON, May 3. Defying- the order of the Social Credit Government of Alberta to vacate his position, the LieutenantGovernor, Mr. J. C. Bowen, remained at Government House to-day, despite the Government's announcement that he will receive no pay and that fin*' ther upkeep of the light, telephone and motoring services have been ordered to be terminated. Mr. Bowen has notified the Cabinet that he can only be vacated by Order-in-Council. which the LieutenantGovernor must sign, and he has no intention of signing an order. An emergency meeting of the Cabinet has been called for to-mor-row.
