LARGER THAN QUEEN MARY

PLANS FOR LAUNCHING

The Times says 'that the liner Queen Elizabeth will be equipped with .two funnels. Her length will be 1030 ft., compared with the Queen Marys 1020 ft. She will be of 84,000 tons, compared with 81,285 tons, and will have 13 decks, compared with 12. In connection with His Majesty s forthcoming visit to Clydebank, when the Queen will launch' the Queen Mary’s sister ship, it is expected that Their Majesties will travel down to Clydebank from Balmoral. The liner Queen Mary after several weeks in port, during which time she underwent an extensive overhaul, left Southampton for New York to-day on the first voyage of her third Atlantic season.

The overhaul, which kept 1700 men from 30 different trades and crafts busily employed since December 20, was only completed during the weekend.
