BIRTHDAY PARTY (Herald Correspondent.) Mrs. S. Whakataka, Mangatuna, gave a most enjoyable party on Wednesday to celebrate the tenth birthday of her nephew, Hiro Maynard, of Manutuke. The little guests were accompanied by their parents and a sumptuous luncheon was served at the meeting-house, where a beautifully iced and decorated birthday cake held a prominent position. Among the children present were Hiro and Hopora Maynard, Girlie, Ruby and Herbert Hindmarsh, Bobby and Flora Kopua, Mona and David Tautau, Kura 'Crawford, Peter Muurircre, Ani Keelan, Julia Lawson, Ruth Olsen, Flora Tautau, Mary Maurirere, Alick and Christie Sadlier, Whare Hautapu. Kumaroa Karini, Jim Lunam, John Huaki, Mamie Hautapu, Barney Karini, Lena and Lydia Hugki.

The rainfall in Tolaga Bay in January was 2.73 in. on five days, with a maximum of 1.20 in. on January 24, compared with G.SCin. for January last year. ! Mr. F. B. Lunam, Mangatuna, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. C. Lawrence, Gisborne. —Miss Norma King, Three Bridges, returned from Hawke’s Bay by plane on Saturday, after visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Angus, Napier.— Latham and David Berry, Huanui station, left by plane on Tuesday to attend school at Palmerston North. — Mr. and Mrs. A. Donald, Mangahei, accompanied by Misses Jean Donald and Nancy McNeil, left on Wednesday for Auckland, where they will be guests at the Young-Rigby wedding.— The Rev. N. F. Bonham returned last evening from a holiday in the South Island.—Mr. R. McNeil, Paremata, is visiting Auckland.
