WEDDING AT MATAWHERO

LISTER—HEWITT MURIWAI FAMILIES UNITED (Herald Correspondent.) The Matawhero Presbyterian Church was the scene of a quiet but pretty wedding last Saturday, when Lilian Mary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Hewitt, Muriwai, was married “to Wynne, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Lister, also of Muriwai. The two families united have both resided in the district for many years. The Rev. R. B. Spence, M.A., officiated at the ceremony.

Escorted by her father, the bride looked charming in a floral wool georgette frock of delphinium blue, with a hat to tone, and carrying a posy of blue and pink. The bridesmaid, who was attractively attired in primrose crepe-de-chine, relieved with brown, and who carried 3 posy in autumn tonings, was Miss Evelyn Lister, the younger sister of the bridegroom. Mr. A. Peveril, a lifelong friend of the bridegroom, was the best man. After the ceremony a reception was held in the Frecsia tea rooms, where a beautiful wedding cake graced the table. Mr. and Mrs. H. Hewitt, assisted by Mrs. A. E. Lister, received their guests. Mrs. Hewitt wore blue floral crepe-de-chine, with a grey swagger coat and a black hat, while Mrs. Lister was wearing a brown figured frock with a navy coat and hat. The customary toasts were honoured during the wedding-breakfast, the Rev. R. B. Spence acting as toast master.

At the conclusion ‘of the reception the happy couple left for the south by plane, the bride wearing a short navy swagger coat, which toned beautifully with her hat trimmings and shoes. The guests assembled at the aerodrome to speed the bride and bridegroom and to tender good wishes for the future.
