AFFRAY ABOARD SHIP

COURT CHARGE DEFERRED VICTIM IN HOSPITAL (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. As a result of the affray aboard the steamer Port Brisbane on Saturday night, James Gibbons, ship’s fireman, appeared in the Police Court to-day charged that, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, he assaulted William McLeod, thereby causing him actual bodily harm. In obtaining a remand until to-mor-row, the police said that the ship was to sail on Wednesday and by to-mor-row they would know better the condition of McLeod, who was in the hospital.
