Kairniro, from Greymouth, at 0.30 a.m.; Waiwera, from Wellington, at 0.40 a.m.; Karu, from Greymouth, at 8.35 a.m. The" chief postmaster at Gisborne announces that with the exception of Hongkong and Macao, to which places full services are still available, deferred and daily letter telegram services with China are suspended until further notice. Tendering the best wishes for his success in the managerial post at Palmerston North to which he is being transferred from Gisborne, the president of the Gisborne Rotary Club, Mr. 11. F. Forster, to-day expressed the hope that Mr. A. E. Carrington would continue to take a keen interest in the Rotary movement. In his reply, Mr. Carrington stated that there were several reasons for his regretting his impending departure from Gisborne, and not the least of these was the necessity for severing his connection with the Gisborne Rotary Club and its many happy associations.
