WRESTLING CONTESTS

N.Z. UNIOW POLICY EXAMPLE FOR GISBORNE The Dominion Wrestling Union, in accordance with its policy of presenting only the best of its patrons, has brought out some exceptionally fine wrestlers to the Dominion this season, but it is doubtful whether the coming of any of the new men has aroused as much interest as was occasioned bv the announcement that Earl McC'readv, the British Empire champion, was back for his third season in New Zealand. McCready will have his first bout in Gisborne this year to-morrow night, when he will meet Matros Km* linko, the fast and colourful Kuban Cossack, who has given some thrilling displays in this country and has never given a poor performanoe. McCready's outstanding record erf over 100 matches in two years, for only one loss (which was later avenged), few draws, and no bad displays has made him the biggest wrestling attraction New Zealand has known. More than that, his successes were achieved by the merit of his scientific, orthodox wrestling, which was marked by such speed and versatility that he earned nothing but applause whenever he entered the ring.

While McCready has been away he has been \ kept busy against the best opposition available in the United States and lbas had only one loss. This was again* the world champion, Dean Detton,' and was brought about by McCready's second becoming too excited anoi throwing in the towel while the Canadian was resisting a toe hold and was even on the point of breaking it.

Kirilinko has built up a reputation throughout the Dominion as a highly skilful and versatile performer* who is bound to make McCready worjk his hardest all the way.
