(Herald Correspondent.) Miss Guenth Ormondson was the guest of Mrs. .1. McNeil for the weekend.—Mrs. E. M. Hobcroft and Miss Norah Hobcroft are the guests of Mrs. W. E. Chamberlain, Russell street, Gisborne—Misses C. Gudgeon and N. Broadhurst and Mr. Walter Gudgeon are visiting Waipiro Bay. At the Tawhiwhirangi Memorial Hall, Miss Lucy Hianga celebrated her twenty-first birthday. The time was spent in dancing. A delightful supper was enjoyed. A huge birthday cake with 21 candles adorned the head of tiie table. The guest of honour was the recipient of many beautiful gifts from her Maori and pakeha friends. Mr. J. Manuel and his Melody Boys' orchestra was in attendance, the evening proving most enjoyable.
Five successive frosts have been recorded in the Tikitiki district, succeeded by gloriously sunny days. Early iambs already have made their appearance in the district.
The rainfall for June was 6.57 in. Rain fell on 12 days, the maximum being 2.47 in. cm June 23.
