PEARL LUGGER SINKS

LOSS OF TWO LIVES SHELL WORTH £42,000 (Klee. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) DARWIN, July 9. A Japanese pearling lugger, loaded with 300 tons of pearl shell, valued at £42,000, foundered off the North Australian coast in 15 fathoms of water, after being struck by a terrific squall. The purser and diver were drowned. Twenty other members of the crew toolc to the lifeboats and were picked up by a smaller lugger. The sunken vessel is believed to be the mother-ship Sanyo Mnru, which was recently constructed.
