RUGBY ON THE COAST
TOLAGA BAY SUB-UNION EOKTHCOMJNU MATCHES (Humid Correspondent.' A committee meeting of the Tolaga Bay Rugby Sub-Union was held m the Reynolds Hall, .Tolaga Bay, those present being Messrs. V. F. Hurlstone, chairman, W. Prince, B. McCreedy, N. Sadler, J. Callaghan, D. Temple, and tlie secretary, Mr. W. Amaru. Mr. W. Powell, of Herbert’s Motors, met the committee, and a satisfactory arrangement regarding transport was made. The agenda from the East Const Rugby Union’s meeting was discussed. The meeting will take place at Ruatoria to-day. The delegate, Mr. 11. Hale, was instructed to issue challenges, on behalf of the Country club, for a match for flic Whakarua Cup, and for the juniors’ rose bowl and banner, the latter to be played on July 17 if possible.
Congratulations were extended to the junior representatives on winning their game for the Waiapu banner last Saturday. A challenge from Tokomaru Bay was accepted for this trophy, the match to be played next Saturday.
The manager of the Tolaga Bay team which played against Matakaoa said that the team had shown up well, especially the forwards. A vote of thanks was extended to Mr M. Hyland for his hospitality to the team. The jersey steward reported that several representative jerseys were missing, and it was decided that six more should be purchased. The resignation of Mr. Watson as treasurer was accepted, and Mr. V. Currie was elected to fill the vacancy. The fixtures for Saturday arc:— The juniors will play Tokomaru Bay at Tolaga Bay, and the seniors will visit Tokomaru Bay.
