BLEDISLOE TROPHY
BEST FIRST-YEAR PILOT N.Z. AERO CLUB AWARD At the half-yearly meeting of the council of the New Zealand Aero Club held at Wellington on Tuesday it was reported that the Bledisloe Trophy for the best first-year pilot- in the Dominion has been awarded to Mr. Graham Martin, of the Wellington Aero Club. It was decided to make the award to him as he was the winner of the competition in the North Island, though the South Island pageant had been abandoned. An offer made by Miss Jean Batten of a trophy, for which no competition has been arranged as yet, was accepted by the club. The form that the trophy is to take has not been decided. A design for the Award of Honour, an award to be made by the club in recognition of any outstanding feat in aviation in New Zealand, has been accepted. The design submitted that was successful was bv Mr. James Berry.
The New Zealand Model Aeroplane Association was granted recognition as the body controlling model aeroplane clubs throughout New Zealand.
