The district engineer of flic Public Works Department. Mr. O. O. Thornton, advises that in the report of an interview Muriwai settlors had with the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. R. Semple, on Sunday, the estimated cost of river stopbanks was incorrectly stated ns £IB,CCO. Mr. Thornton'states that in reply to a question from the Minister lie gave an estimate of £BO.OOO up to £140,000. Miss Nita Rosslyn (The Girl in Red), on tour in New Zealand, lias contracted a chill through sleeping in a damp lied some weeks ago. and made her stage appearance on Saturday night at the theatre in Mnnurewa, where she talked and sang with difficulty. She is suffering from bronchitis and laryngitis, and is now being nursed in Manurewa, hoping to continue her tour of North Auckland prior to leaving for Australia.
