ANNUAL MEETlNGimproved SEASON LIKELY (Herald Correspondent.) At the annual meeting of the Wniroa Rod and Gun Club, Mr. T. C. L. Biiwdiell presided over a fair gathering of members. The annual report showed that as no subscriptions had been taken last year, which was not- a good one, the financial position was unchanged. It dealt with the alteration of the opening date, and noted the fact that 100 pheasants had been liberated and 50 more would be put out, later.
Messrs. Byford and W. Crarer, who waited on the Hon. W. E. Parry, reported on the deputation as already reported in the press. In regard to angling, the chairman said the shifting of the old hatchery to Kailawa bad been a good move, and more fish could be stripped in future. Fishermen were concerned about the shortening of the tfoul-tishing season, which closed on May Id. when the trout were in the best condition.
A tribute was paid to the secretary for bis work, which is to be acknowledged, and a vote of £2 2s was made to the King George V memorial fund. The membership fee was fixed at 2s 6d, and it was agreed to give a prize of .Cl Is to the member securing the most new members during the year, a special appeal to be made for ihis purpose. The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr. G. C. Ormond; president, Mr. T. L. Powdrell; vice-presidents, Messrs. D. Byford. 0. C. Poyzer and M. ,T. Gemmoll; treasurer, Mr. D. Byford; secretary, Mr. W. (’rarer; auditor. Mr. A. H. Heighten. A strong committee also was appointed.
