A large number of golfers took out cards and the scoring, under ideal conditions, was disappointing. only three players, F. F. Fenwick, \Y. D. Armstrong and W. D. Barker breaking 80 Taken over the week-end, F. F. Fenwick has been playing very steadily, and if lie can bold bis form should prove very hard to beat in tins competition. On Saturday afternoon, whilst competing in the - Reynolds Cup qualifying rounds. W. R. B. Willoek, off the nine mark, returned the excellent card of 75. This was a very good effort and should bring him under the notice of the handicappcrs. P. F. .Barker also was playing verywell and returned a net 63. This should further reduce bis handicap. In the play-off of the May Tankard, I). M. Melhlowie was in form and made no race, of it. This player has be’en playing very well lately, and should be continue to improve probably will annex a few more trophies. The Tankard competition l-uri at the Park club was won by -L <4. Bray. This is Brav’s second season’s golf, and be should' feel proud of bis achievement. An inter-club match was played during the week-end on the Tuoi links between the Waikolm and Turanganni golf clubs and resulted in an overwhelming win for the players of the town club. Waikolm winning only one out of the 27 games played. The teams were made up of 18 players, 10 men and eight women, and singles were played in the morning and a four-ball best ball series in the afternoon. Another Hole in One Some time ago the Waii-on Golf Club made a rule t hat any person doing) a, bole in one should lie feted bv bis fellow members. This rule seems to have acted as a stimulus for last, week-end A. K. Thomas proved himself “monarch” of the links by holing a perfect tee shot at the ‘'Crossing,” 120 yds, and was honoured by bis fellow members. Another player nearly achieved the same result at the same bole for after playing an unsatisfactory first shot bo played another from the tee and holed it.
