VICTORY FOR MARTIN JENKIN KNOCKED OUT (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. The professional welterweight boxing contest, to night between Billy Martin, Australia, and Stan Jenkin. Oainnru, was won by Martin by a knock-out in the eighth round. Martin was clearly the superior boxer from the outset, and never at any stage was he in danger. On the contrary, after obtaining early the measure of ..is opponent, he permitted Jenkin to tap him on the head realising that the New Zealander’s blows lacked sting. There was only a fair attendance and the public must have been disappointed with the contest, as it was too one-sided to be entertaining. After concentrating mostly on body punching, Martin sent his opponent down for the count of seven in the eighth round, and then finished up with a left hook In the chin. Jenkin was counted 0111.
