BEATEN BY GOOD TEAM

DAVIS CUP QUEST AUSTRALIAN COMMENT (Reed. June 1, 11.40 a.m.) NEW YORK, May 31. The condition of the Australian Davis Cup tennis player, A. K. Quist, suddenly became worse today. The doctor advised clinical watching, although Quist’s conditions is not serious. Quist has refused to go to hospital, preferring to romain in his room at tho training quarters. The team will sail on Wednesday for England. In an* interview with a representative of the Australian Associated Press agency, following the defeat of the Australians, the manager of the Australian team, Mr. C. E. Sproulc, said:—

“A good team defeated us and we take it in good part, as the Americans did last year. Wo will probably return next year with most of the preseut team, and, if America takes the cup, We will try to take it from them. We will in all likelihood challenge in the American zone, since we would be in a better position. I believe we can account for England or Germany, and thus will probably faco America for tho cup.

“I was particularly pleased with McGrath's playing. He was unable to run much, but he stroked brilliantly and made points from the most difficult places. His choice was amply justified. ’ ’
