HELIUM FROM AMERICA
EXPORT PERMIT URGED
BAN ON MILITARY USE
WASHINGTON, May 25.
A committee of five members of the United States Cabinet has recommended to President Roosevelt the liberalisation of helium legislation to permit export of gas for other than military purposes.
Dr. Hugo Eckener, the Zeppelin designer, has arrived to give evidence before the Senate Committee on Wednesday.
Mr. Thomas Slate, inventor of the all-metal dirigible, warned the Cabinet sub-committee that Germany wanted helium for military iise. Ho said that Dr. Eckener was the unwilling tool of German militarists.
