Skidding off the main Pokeno-Paeroa highway on a sharp bend approaching a one-way bridge over the, Mangatawhiri Stream late on Saturday night, a taxi driven by Mr. William Wallace Stewart, of Mount Eden, Auckland, went over a bank into the stream, coming to rest upside down in water about- 4ft. deep. The driver and a passenger, Air. Herman Diggleman, of Epsom, extricated themselves with difficulty and escaped unhurt.
