DEFENCE CLUB SCORES GOOD OPENING SHOUT R. BULL HEADS LIST The Gisborne. Defence Rifle Club opened its 1936-37 season during the week-end with an invitation shoot hi which visitors from Nuhaka, Wairoa. r/iniroto and Matamata took pari, tin. attendance constituting a record, ami keen interest being taken in the various matches-and the aggregate competition it. Bull, with 149, was top man in the aggregate list for the day, while F. 'P. Jeune was second ,vith a similar total, and F. J. Jeune third, also with 149. A teams match ,vas contested by three teams, the < lisoorne A group winning by a small margin. , The first match was a sweepstake at 'ooyds. and in ibis A. Font and F. J. Jeune shot the possible of 40 points, tying for first place. J. Austin, sen., G. Wobtton and .1. Johnstone scored 39 each to divide third money, and C. Lloyd md L. Franklin also scored 39 to tie for sixth money. W. Ellis and F. P. Jeune ,verel)olh' counted out with scores of 39. In the sweepstakes at 300yds, the. best scores were :—F. P. Jeune, 38 ;J. Pirie. 38 ■ C Clark, 38; A. Wilson, 36; T. Herivel, 36; L. Franklin (37 less 1), 36; L. Grey, 36. Counted out :R. Bull. At SOOvds .the best cards were those returned bv W. R. Ellis, 39; R. Bull. 39 ; L Grey (39 less 1), 33 : J. Austin (3S less 2),'37; h. Franklin (38 less 2), 36; S. Pirie, 36. Counted out: E. Craill, Bidmore, Bin-son, and E. Pirie. all 36. At 600vds, J. Duley, Wairoa. topped the list with 35, Bulmore taking second place with a like score, and others being : T. Herivel (35 less 1), 34; Anderson, 34: R r Bull (37 less 4). 33: J. Austin, sen. <37 less 4), 33; R. Pirie (34 less 1), 33. The aggregate scores of the first 12 •narksmen on the day were compiled in •he following order :-R. Bull, 149: F. P. Jeune, 149: F. J.
