GISBORNE CLUB RACE FROM AUCKLAND The third race of the Gisborne Flying Club's old bird season was held on Saturday from Auckland, an airline distance* of 218 miles. Pine, weather conditions prevailed and the winning bird, owned by P. Wildish, covered the distance in 4hr. 53min. 41 sec. , Details of the first eight places were as follow: P. Wildish's Layina, 1307.4 yards per minute, 1; F. Green's Jack o' Spades, 1306.9yds .per min., 2; F. Wildish's Mickev Mouse, 1301.8yds per min., 3; A. O'Neill's Little Scott, 1301.1yds per min., 4; A. O'Neill's Red Ace, 1298.8yds per min., 5; J. Barbour's Hitler, 1291.3yds per min., 6; A. Bound's Hurry On, 1290.5yds per mm., 7 : Summer Loft's Last Hope, 1290.3yds per min., 8. POVERTY BAY SOCIETY RACE FROM WELLINGTON A further old bird race was held from Wellington on Saturday by the Poverty Ray Homing Pigeon Society, an airline distance of 230 miles. T. Crosby'? Sunstar covered the distance in tlio good time of shrs. 39min. 12.50 c, a velocity of 1293.2 yards per minute. Detailed results are as follow: —T. Crosbv's Sunstar, 1293.2yd8. per min., 1; P.." Percy's Ping Flame, 1289.8yd5. per min., 2; P. Green's Prince Valiant, 1287.9yd5., per min., 3; W. Jonasen's High Feast, 1280.9yd5. per min., 4; R. Hall's Desert Prince, 1278.4yd5. per min., fi; J. Martin's Blue Hawk, 1278.3 yds. per min., (i; W. Marshall's Faithful, 1276.2yd5. per min., 7; C. Corbett's Dark Cloud, 1272yds. per min., 8. Next Saturday the club will hold a race from Napier.
