POVERTY BAY CLUB TWO SPECIAL MATCHES Five full games were played on. the Poverty Bay Bowling Club's green on Saturday, including two special matches, one of which was a contest for the Stoueham Ferns and the other an arranged match for the • 'lnsurance Shield" between representatives of insurance companies. Both were closely contested and in each only a single point separated winners from losers. In the insurance match. the'Gishornc club's visiting team was 'skipped by T. F. Crawford 1 and the home team hy C. Blackburn, After even play the score on the fourteenth head stood at 14-all. The home team raised their score to 21 ■md the visitors responded by notching eight in the last four heads, thus winning bv one point. Hankey (s) 29. KAHUTIA CLUB GOOD ATTENDANCE \ number of games were played on the Kahutia Bowling Club's green on Saturday, there being a good attendance of members, who displayed keen enthusiasm. The grounds were in excellent order for the opening of the season. The club's official opening ceremony will take place next Saturday afternoon. \ feature of the play last Saturday was the match between a mercantile marine team and a team skipped by D.
