BY-ELECTION INCIDENT
ASSAULT ON SPEAKER LABOUR'S DISCLAIMER (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, last night. A disclaimer on the part of the Labour Party in connection with a "regrettable" incident at, Ellorslie, When Mr. Brian Kingston: was assaulted on Friday night, was issued by Mr. A. G. Osborne, Labour candidate in the Mamikau by-election at his campaign address at To Papapa. "I have made appeals from every platform during my campaign asking Labour supporters to give my Nationalist opponent a fair and impartial hearing," said Mr. Osborne. "I ask again that the same courtesy should be extended to the National campaign as .to my own. Supporters should refrain from any hostility, which would definitely injure the platform of the Government and myself."
