CENTENNIAL EXHIBITION

COMPANY REGISTERED

(Per Press Association.)

WELLINGTON, last night

The New Zealand Centennial Exhibition Company was registered on Tuesday and the iirst meeting of the provisional directors was held to-day, the Mayor of Wellington, Mr. T. C. AHislop, presiding. Arrangements were made to set up committees to canvass for subscribers. Mr. Hislop said a considerable amountalready had been promised and it was anticipated the amount required to go to allotment, £75,000, would be subscribed in a few weeks. The total capital of the company is £150,000. AMALGAMATED WIRELESS DIVIDEND AND BONUS Amalgamated Wireless (Australasia), Limited, has advised the Stock Exchange Association that a final dividend of 6 per cent, plus a bonus of 1 per cent, had been declared for the year ended Juno 30. The dividend is payable on October 12. An interim dividend of 4 per cent was paid on April 9. Thus the. total distribution for the year is 11 per cent, compared with 10 per cent, for the previous year. WALKATO STOCK VALUES FLUCTUATIONS IN PRICES Values in the Waikato live, stock markets have been fluctuating this month, which, however, is the time of the year when this usually occurs. A northern correspondent reviews 'the store, cattle market as follows: September, being usually a month when grass is expected but seldom grows, again witnesses its customary fluctuations. It could not bo said thai well-bred cattle are lower in values, but there seems a general realisation that the prophecy of shortage is once more to be disproved and buyers in consequence have again settled "on an even keel. At the same time, there is ample evidence that the spring demand, when conditions warrant it, will be fully equal to that of previous years; indeed, with the extensive change over to sheep it is conceivable that requirements will exceed those of any year preceding. The popularity of forward conditioned. bullocks was evidenced at Otorohanga, | where a fair draft was displayed. The best of these realised from £lO 10s to £ll, with lighter conditioned lots from £9 12s 6d. For empty dairy classes .competition has not been so keen", but jit was unreasonable to expect the soaring rates of a week or two ago to be maintained. There is, however, a steady demand and good two-year heifers at Hamilton on Tuesday reached £4 18s. A line of yearlings at a. clearing sale made £6, but in the yards few exceed £5, with inferior and younger animals lower in proportion. AUSTRALIAN- PRODUCE SYDNEY, Sept, 24. Wheat at country sidings is quoted at 4s 3£d a bushel, equal to about 4s lOd ex trucks, .Sydney. Flour, £l2 5s a ton. Bran and pollard, £6 5s a ton. Potatoes, Tasmanian, £lO a ton ; others to £8 10s.
