FRANCE TOPS POLL BRITAIN IN NEXT PLACE (British Official Wireless.) Reed. noon. RUGBY, Sept. 24. The Assembly of the League of Nations met at Geneva to-day to elect six vice-presidents and out of 52 countries voting, France received 49 votes, Britain 47, Jugoslavia 44, Canada 35), U.S.S.R. 65, and Italy 32. The election of the new League Council will take plaice on Wednesday. To-day the .First Committee of the Assembly discussed the increase in the number of non-permanent Council seats and the quetsion of the reservation of an extra seat for an Asiatic Power. To-morrow the general debate opens in the Assemble.
