MATAWHERO STOCK SALE STORE SHEEP ADVANCE At the weekly stock sale conducted by the Poverty Bay Stockbrokers’ Association at the Matawhero saleyards to-day, values for store sheep were on the upgrade, wether hoggets advancing by 2s to 2s 6d. In the fat sheep section, best sorts sold at prices up to recent rates, but other lots, not so prime, were a little easier: BEEF For a small entry of 13 fat cattle the market showed no change. An attractive Hereford heifer made- £6 6s. Wether hoggets advanced by 2s to 2s 6d, while ewes with lambs made the high'figure of 37s Id- for a good pen. Several pens of hoggets sold at above 265. Ewes with, lambs realised 23s 3d for medium, 30s 9d for good, and 37s Id for extra good. Dry ewes made. 14s 9d to 15s 9d for medium, 17s 9d to 19s 2d for good and 26s 3d to 27s 7d for 4-tooth to 5-year. Prices ranged as follows: —Porkers, 27s ■6d to 3Cs; weaners, ,12s to, 16s 6d; baconers to £2 10s; sow with litter, £4. BUTTER MARKET STEADY N.Z. REMAINS AT 100/QUIET TONE FOR CHEESE (Klee. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn,) (Reed. 2 p.m.; Sept. 25. J LONDON, Sept. 24. The butter Market is steady after a Sharp decline during the early part of the. week. New Zealand and Australian prices are 5s per cwt. lower than a week ago, while Danish dropped 4s. Present quotations are: Danish, 120 s ; New Zealand and Australian, choicest salted and unsalted, 100 s. 1 Cheese is quiet. New Zealand white and coloured are fid per cwt lower than last week, white at 67s to 67s 6d, and coloured 65s to 65s 6d. FIRST GUARANTEE SHIP ARRIVAL NEXT MONTH Prices for New Zealand and Australian blitter have remained unaltered since the advice received in Gisborne on Wednesday, but Danish has dropped 3s since then. The steady tone reported in the above cable message encourages the belief that tho fall in values has been stopped, at least temporarily.
