Morris, SAL. in the Magistrate’s Court at Wlmngarei, when E. J. Dunne was charged that, being the occupier of a shop, lie failed to show tin the wages■ook the hours during which a shop assistant had been employed. The inspector of awards, Mr. P. Collins, said defendant was a branch manager for a firm. Under the recent amendment to the Shops and Offices Act. however, as defendant, was paid less than P. 6 a week, lie was classed as a shop assistant, and had failed to keep a record if his own overtime. He asked for a nominal penally only, ns warning to others.
The. magistrate convicted defendant and ordered him lo pay costs.
