Evidence of the value which applicants for work place on the Labour Department’s placement scheme has been supplied by employers in various centres, reports the Dominion. It appears that numbers of men have been calling on business firms and stating that the placement officer had advised them to do so, as there was every probability of work being found for them. The actual position is that when a worker is sent to an employer, he is provided with a card of introduction, and no man is ever sent unless in accordance with an arrangement previously made with the employer..
