STREAMLINED ENGINES

SPEED IN ENGLAND UP TO 103 M.P.H. (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 10 a.m. RUGBY, Aug. 25. The streamlined engines specially designed for working the fast Silver Jubilee service between London and Newcastle on the London-North-Eastern Railway have given a very satisfactory performance, and the company has now 17 more engines of this type under construction. They are to be used for the normal main line services. The Silver Jubilee train recently came near breaking its remarkable record run of last September. North-bound, it live times has exceeded a speed of 100 miles an hour, touching a maximum of 103 miles an hour. One stage of 20 miles was covered at an average speed of 98.4 miles an hour.
