MORTGAGE INTEREST
LEGISLATION TO LAPSE
MELBOURNE, Aug. 7,
It was stated authoritatively last night that sinco the- Ministry believed that the time had passed when reductions of interest on mortgages were necessary, the relevant section of the Financial Emergency Act would not he re-enacted when it, expired in October. The Ministry has - not yet decided finally against the re-enactment of the provision, but it is known that most Ministers agree that it “has outlived its usefulness.”
