HALVED IN ONE

FOUR-BALL GAME SENSATION AT SHIRLEY (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, last night. A golfing incident believed to be unique occurred at Shirley yesterday afternoon, "When in a four-ball match a hole was halved in one. W. T. D. Barman had the honour with a well hit shot which found the cup. His partner, IC. J. Walker, then played after a remark by one of the four that ho had shot for a half. At. 11. Godby played and his tec shot also went in the hole. Both balls pitched about the same place slightly to the left of the lino to the pin and rolled round the slope into the hole. Although holes have been halved In one several times in singles in. different parts of the world and at least once in a foursome in America, there is no record of such an. incident occurring in a four-ball game.
