CANBERRA EXPENDITURE CANBERRA, May 16. It is understood that before the Estimates for 1936-37 are completed, the proposed expenditure of about £1,250,CC0 on the Federal Capital Territory will be reduced to less than £1,0C0,000. In the Estimates for nest year about £400,000 will be provided for the erection of the new permanent, administrative offices at Canberra, which it is now believed will cost about £560,000, instead of £BOO,OOO. Provision will be made for an expenditure of £60,000 towards the cost of a new hospital at Canberra to replace the present temporary wooden buildings. The erection of a new Government High school may also be provided for.
