AUSTRALIAN PUBLICITY
EXTOLUED BY DR, PAGE LONDON, May 15. Answering criticism by the Premier of Queensland, Mr. Forgan Smith, of Australian marketing publicity in Britain, the Commonwealth Minister for Commerce, Dr. Earle Page, said that the .best testimony to the effectiveness of Australian advertising was that it was removing the disparity in the price in London of Australian and New Zealand butter. At present, he stated, all available Australian butter was being, cleared •briskly. The same thing applied to canned' fruits. Two million cases of Australian canned fruits could be sold in the. current year, but only 1,C00,000 cases were available. Both from the viewpoint of quantity of goods sold and prices realised, added Dr. Page, Australian publicity had proved effective. If an assurance was obtainable from the British Government of an unrestricted market for these products, Australia could safely increase her production and advertise accordingly.
