JAPANESE MINE DISASTER
SIXTY WORKERS KILLED CAGES FALL IN PIT (Reed. April 16, 11.40 a.m.) TOKIO, April 15. Sixty miners were killed and 23 were injured when the winding gear at the Sumitomo colliery in the Pukuoka district broke, the cages crashing 2000 ft. to the bottom of the pit.
