MATAWHERO STOCK SALE 1 SHEEP PRICES TIRM Despite the unfavourable weather conditions, there was a fair yarding of stock at the weekly sale conducted by the Poverty Bay Stockbrokers' Association at the' Mntawhero sale yards to-day. In the .sheep seel ion recent values were maintained. FAT CATTLE A pen of prime heavy cows in the I'al cattle section was passed in at £)0 Us. and a Jersey-Holstein sold at C 4 Is. The Jersey entry was plain, but one finished Jersey made £3 2s 6d. Prices :—- Cow's.—Five prime heavy Shorthorn. on account of Mr. H. P.eaufoy, £6 lis; 2 heifers, 1 cow, no bid; 2 cows (p). £3 10s ; 2 Jersey cross, £3 5s ; 1 black Polled. £3 16s'; 3. light, no bid; 1 young Jersey cross, C2 Ss 6d ; 2 Jerseys, £2 4s : 2 Jerseys, £2 12s and £1 15s: 2 Jersevs, £1 10s; 1 Hereford cow. in calf. C 6 4s : 1 Jersev-ITolstein, £4 Is. Heifers.—Two light Jerseys, £2 2a. FAT SHEEP In the fat sheep section there was an entry of 114 ewes of average quality. Values ranged from 14s to 16s 6d, with' second grade ewes at 13s lOd. Prices : Ewes.—Twenty at 17s 7d ; 6. 15s 3d; 12. 16s 6d ; 50. 15s; 5,14 s. Lambs.—3 at 19s 3d. STORE SHEEP For a iairly good-sized entry there was a brisk bale, with values lirra and laUeuing ewes advancing. Two-tooth ewes made 19s fed to 24s 5d ; wethers, LOs 3d to 235; breeding; ewes, 19s 9u tor good mouths; dry ewes, wiiicli were in demand, made up to Lis 6d ; lambs, fairly good, 13s 7d to 13s lOd; and ewe lambs, 17s 8d to 18s 6d. Prices:---

Ewe lamb's.—Ninety-two, good, average size ami condition, woolly, 17s fcid ; lt>s, from. iloLu, shorn, with condition. Ids 6d ; 83, .shorn, well-grown, ill good order, "18s 2d; 35. good, shorn, 17s. Two-tooth ewes.—Eighty-nine, small, high country, store condition, 19s Qd; 82, fairly good size and condition, 19s lOd; 125, a, good pen, full of condition. 24s 5d

Wethers. —Throe hundred and thirtynine, 2-tooth, ordinary store condition. 20s 3d; 164, good frame and condition, 2-tooth, 2.15; 192. high country, in good order, mostly 2-tooth, 21s; 163, wellgrown, fresh condition, 235; 105 4-tooth. in good order, 21s 6d; 342 2-tooth, a few 4-tooth, good frame, fresh condition, 225.

Breeding ewes. Sixty-six, good mouths, r.w. Southdowns, good condition, 19s 9d; 98, 4, 6 and 8-tooth, failcondition, high country, 16s 7d; 126, as last, mostly 6-tootli, light condition, 15s.

Dry ewes. —89, good teeth, medium to good condition, 13s 6d; 171, fairly forward. 13s 2d; 78, as last, 13s 2d'; 125, fairly good condition, lis lOd; 73, fairly good condition, 10s 6d.

Lambs.—Ninety-six, woolly wethers, fairly good size, 13s 7d; 111. woolly, as last, 13s lOd ; 36. woolly, good condition and size, from' Motu, 13s; 20, good, average, shorn, 13s 4d ; 61, sturdy shorn wethers, 15s.
