VARIETY OF OFFENCES 20 WITHOUT LICENSES Many motorists were fined by Mr E. L. Walton, R.M., in the Police Court to-day. As a result of a rec-ent raid, 20 were ilea It with for driving motor vehicles without being in possession of current licenses. MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ‘ The charges arising out. of the accident referred to wore against Alfred George Newton Goodhue for failing to sound his motor-cycle horn anil failing to pas* a cyclist on the right. Senior-Sergeant Wade stated that the defendant reported that a cyclist was riding well out on to the crown of the road, and instead of passing so far out the defendant had cut in and passed on the wrong side of the cyclist, a minor ■.evident resulting. The senior-sergeant: He should have blown his horn and reduced speed to give the cyclist a chance to gel out of the way. A fine of 10s and costs was imposed for failing to sound the horn, and on the other charge the defendant, was convicted and discharged. MILKMEN ON PATHS Two milkmen. Edward Grey and Robert Charles Willis, were fined 5s and costs for riding bieyccs on a footpath in Aberdleen road. Giving evidence, Constable Birch stated that letters had appeared in the press complaining of the habit of cyclists riding on the footpaths. PARKING AND LICENSES Proceeded against bv the borough traffic inspector, Air. G. G. Winter, Wil free! Tuliock and Stanley N. Smith were 'mod 5s and costa 12s for parking in Gladstone road for more than 30 minutes. The following, proceeded against by lie police, were fined 5s and costs ranging generally from 10s to 12s for driving motor vehicles without being in possession of the current drivers’ licenses:-- : 'lfred Dale, F.dward England. Gillingham. William Salt Gould, .Tune Hamilton Irvine, Henry Arthur Kent, Winnie Lister. Reginald John McKay, Arthur Stanley Monde, Sidney Harold Phillips. George Percy Price, Henry Ridvers Richards, Robert Robb, Arthur Stanley Seymour, James Maurice Vickers, Morton Wade, and Richard Brett. In the last mentioned ’ case (Brett’s), costs totalled 17s. F.sne Walker and Frederick Habgood. also proceeded against by the police on failure to produce drivers’ licenses, were onvicted and discharged. Proceeded against by- the main high- j ways traffic inspector, jVIr. W. H. Scott. | Arthur Milligan was fined 5s and costs i 'or driving without a license.
