SMALL BOY DROWNED BROTHER’S NARROW ESCAPE A boy, Vincent- Cleaver, 11, was drowned in a dam on his lather’s property at Matapu, Taranaki, on Friday. He was being towed across the pool holding on to the shoulders of a neighboring fanner, Mr P. Henry, when he released his hold and sank almost immediately. He grasped Mr Henry’s feel, pulling him down also. A brother, Allan Cleaver, assisted Mr Henry to the bank, Unit got into difficulties himself. Mr Henry went back and •brought him to the surface unconscious. Artificial respiration was applied with successful results. The body of the other boy was recovered 20 minutes later in 10ft. of water. Artificial respiration was in vain.
