COCKTAILS AND LIPSTICKS

LADY BADEN POWELL’S OPINION

BRISBANE!. Dee. 21

Lady Baden-Powell said in Brisbane to-day that cocktails and lipsticks were entirely artificial and decadent. To her they were like a red rag to a bull. Lady Baden-Powell also criticised backless bathing costumes. If people liked to display their naked bodies, she said, it was their look-out, but she believed that a lady’s natural instinct was to be modest, and to do all things in moderation.

Her present flip, Lady Baden-Powell said, was not a holiday. She thought people wanted too many holidays. The cry of “I must have a holiday” was developing into an absolute mania.
