COMMERCIAL
CANTERBURY MARKETS The week has been extremely quiet in the produce markets, states a Christchurch message of Friday. A few parcels of potatoes are going north to 'Wellington and other ports, but it is not expected tlint many more will be wanted in Auckland. New season’ potatoes are now coming into fairly general use. Values nominally for whites are £2 5s to £2 7s 6d a ton. f.0.1i., sacks included, and for Dakatos £2 10s to £3 12s 6d. Fowl wheat is worth 3s 8d a bushel, f.0.b., sacks extra, for prompt delivery, the tendency having been easier. In view of the small area forecast for next year’s wheat crop, the movement of the market is unexpected. Oats and small seeds show no change in price, and the demand for them is practically lifeless.
