PIGEON FLYING
RACE FROM MOTUHORA The Gisborne Flying Club held its first race of the second series of the young bird season with a race from Motuhora to Gisborne, au airline distance of 40 miles. The weather was ideal for flying, and the race resulted m a close finisn. Tho results were: It. P. Sheppard's b.e. Royal Gallant, 1025.1 y.p.m., 1; A. McLean’s b.c.h. Flying Cloud, 1020.3 y.p.m., 2; A. T. Bound’s b.c.h. Firpo, 986.1 y.p.m., 3; A. O’Neill’s r.c.li. Red ■Songster, 994.8 y.p.m., 4. Next week the club will hold its seeoud race of the series from Taneatua. On February 17 the Gisborne Flying Club held its last race of the first series from Tauranga to Gisborne, an airline distance of 120 miles. The weather was rather unsettled, with the result that the times were not fast. The results were as follow: F. Green’s b.c. Blue Diamond and b.c.c. Diamond Imperial, 982. 2 y.p.m., dead heat, 1: R. P. Sheppard’s blk. p.h. Gay Lap, 968.2 y.ji.m.. 3.
