DANCING ASSOCIATION

WELL ATTENDED DANCE A well attended dance was held in the Makaraka Hall under the auspices of the Piping and Dancing Association. Mr Fletcher officiated as M.C., and Mrs Menzics’ orchestra provided the music. Dr. R. M. Gunn, the association’s patron, was introduced to tho patrons by Mr E. Sharpies, who, in ,a happy speech, referred to the work being done by the association. Ho said that t ho future activities would he watched by all Highland dancing enthusiasts. The organisation was progressing apace and by its endeavors the juvenile competitors were aide to compete both near and far. The presentation of trophies won at Kaitaratnhi, Te Knraka, Tolaga Bay and Wairoa then took place. Each competitor who danced at the waterside workers’ recent picnic was presented with a medal from the Waterside Workers’ Union as appreciation of their efforts. The.supper, a feature of the evening, was served by a willing band of supporters. The association’s funds will benefit materially by the proceeds. It is projiosed to hold a similar function in the near future.
