MURDER OF KING NADIR AMAZING CONFESSION POLITICAL INTRIGUE
(Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Tress Assn.) (Received Jan. 4, 11 a.m.) CALCUTTA, Jan. 3.
A Kabul newspaper, the Isbah, contains a photograph of a remarkable confession alleged to have been made by Abdul Kkaliq, who murdered the Afghan King, resulting in 16 executions. Khaliq, a 23-year-old student, says he was instigated to commit the murder by the wife of Ghulum Sidfliq, formerly Foreign Minister in ex-King Amanullah’s Government, and now in exile in Berlin.
Khaliq declared that he had a devilish passion for the woman who provided him with the money to assassinate King Nadir Shah, expecting it to be followed by a rising throughout the country and the re-enthronement of Amanuilah, with personal honors for himself. Khaliq at first hesitated, but the woman, and also the wives of the executed men, taunted him with being a coward. The woman refused to love him unless ho killed King Nadir Shah. The confession adds: “This is the secret of a great national calamity which I must reveal, as the identity of the woman who is the root of all the mischief must not remain undisclosed.”
