STATION AUCTIONED
LATE 0. D. GREENWOOD’S PROPERTY
BRISBANE, Dec. 26. Saxby Downs, one of the well-known stations out in the Burke district, was lately offered at auction on account of the executors of the estate of the late Mr. George Dean Greenwood, a New Zealander, and owner of the famous racehorse Gloaming. The property comprises a pastoral development holding of 329 square miles, with a present rental of 23s 6d a square mile, and Klandulla, 749 square miles, with a rental of 7s 6d a square mile. is 6342 cattle and 228 horses, and' the oger was on walk-in-walk-out
conditions. Competition was not keen, and the - property was "passed in” at a bid of £20.000 from Mr. William Nanghton, of Melbourne, wTTo already has station intents in the far north. Saxby Downs is unite a good property, a considerable portion beincc suitable for sheep, and it is well watered. It may be observed that southern operations- in northern cattle country have been fairly active, there being, no doubl, some impulse from the bright prospects of a chilled meat trade.
