SUCCESSFUL FLIGHT

STRATOSPHERE ASCENT A DELIGHTFUL TRIP (Received Nov. 22, 3 p.m.) BRIDGETON (New Jersey), Nov. 21. Commander F. W. Settle and Major R. Fordnoy landed safe hero last night, though not until this morning did the world learn of tho flyers’ whereabouts.

The men remained in the balloon overnight. Major Fordney said : ‘‘Wo Lad a delightful, untoward, trip, except that we camo down so fast that we had to throw things overboard as fast as wo could in order to lighten the ship. AVo made a pretty rapid landing. Neither of us was hurt. Wo got out of tho gondola, wrapped up in the balloon, and slept the night. ” Asked about the flight, Major Fordney stated: ‘‘lt was normal ballooning, and very successful. We lost only a few photographic plates. 'Wo got up over 56,000 ft. We are both in perfect health.”
