BARTLETT’S NEWS
(Herald Correspondent.) A very successful dance was held in the Y.M.C.A. Hall, Bartlett’s, on Thursday last, when the load branch of the R.B.A. held its annual function. The hall was decorated with nikau palms, while draping the stage and hanging from the centre of the hall gaily colored flags gave to the scene an atmosphere of festivity. The Krazy Kat orchestra was in attendance.
The supper-room was tastefully decorated with palms, while the table decorations, consisting of daffodils and poppies, were greatly admired. The daffodils were provided by Mrs. (J. E. Darton, from bulbs grown by the late Mr. Darton. The (Mitering was in the hands of the. ladies of the local branch. One can judge the success of the function when it is mentioned that three bus loads of Gisborne residents journeyed out to Bartlett’s to attend the dance.
After supper Mr. P. Buslmell, on behalf of the Gisborne headquarters, paid a tribute to the work of the Bartlett’s branch, which, although only recently established, had very successfully organised schemes, for the assistance of its members.
