Dunning and Hawkesworth carried Otago’s overnight score to 319, the innings lasting 192 minutes. Dunning collected 28 in quick time before Jus played all over one from Elliott, Rcaney proved the Visitors’ best bowler, finishing up with six wickets for 89 runs. Kavanagh and Mahoney opened Hawke’s Bays second innings, but were returned to the pavilion by Dickinson (2 for 11). When the total' was at 21, Browne and O’Brien made a useful stand, the former repeating his fino form of tiic first innings and playing soundly.
