CHANCES REMOTE
HITLER AS CHANCELLOR NEGOTIATIONS CONTINUE LONDON, Nov. 22. It is officially announced that the President, Marshal von Hindenburg, will give his decision in the Hitler problem to-day. The prospects of Herr Hitler succeeding to the Chancellorship are now remote. The Centre Party fs far from enthusiastic about a coalition with the Nazis, while Herr Hugenberg’s Nationals are definitely Hostile. It is understood that Herr Hitler, at the conference with the President, asked to be allowed to form a Presidential Ministry, similar to that of Herr von Fapen’s, but the President replied in the negative, saying that only a non-party leader was eligible to form a Presidential Cabinet.
According to the correspondents of several London papers, Herr Hitler has already decided that he cannot comply with Marshal von Hindenburg’s conditions, which two correspondents describe as a trap. The Daily Express says: “The conclave between Herr Hitler and leading supporters ended in a victory for the “Noes.” ITerr Hitler has not given a clear refusal. Instead, he has sent a long letter to the President, requesting further informateion regarding the conditions, which is expected to result in a letter to-day definitely refusing.”
