NEW BRITISH ENGINES SUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENTS LONDON, Nov. 22. The Daily Mail says that in order to inspect oil-electric Diesel engined locomotives capable .of drawing 9CO passengers at 70 miles an hour, Mr. Walter Runciman visited Armstrong Whitworth's works at Newcastle. He will report the prospects to Mr. MacDonald. It is claimed that the installation of the engines, which are also applicable to manufacturing, will revolutionise travel and! .save railway companies £22,000,000 a year. The locomotives, four of which have been ordered for the Buenos Aires railways, resemble huge aluminium boxes. The driver, behind plate glass windows, easily controls the 1700 horse power by pressing a self-starter and pulling a lever. The fuel cost is 8d per hour.
