TRIP TO SYDNEY

MAN, GIRL AND BOY NOT ALLOWED TO LAND SYDNEY, Dec. 1. Three persons, a married man, a girl about 17, and her step-brother, aged about seven years, were prevented from landing from the Ulimaroa' this morning. The customs officers interviewed the trio and ascertained that the man had paid the passages of the boy and the girl in order to give them a holiday. The girl, who is extremely pretty, occupied a separate berth in another portion of the ship, whilst the hoy travelled with the man. The girl and the boy both sobbed pitifully when they realised that their holiday was being spoiled. The trio are returning by Friday’s boat. The customs officials acted upon radio instructions received from the New Zealand police at Wanganui, where tho girl is a dressmaker.
